Treatment of simple obesity disease

Surgical bariatric surgery has a history of more than 50 years. Traditional caesarean surgery has long incisions, large trauma and many complications, and patients give up surgical treatment because of fear. In recent years, the rapid development of minimally invasive laparoscopic technology has made it possible to perform bariatric surgery on obese patients under laparoscopy. At present, there are two common laparoscopic bariatric surgery methods internationally: adjustable gastric band surgery and gastrointestinal bypass surgery. The former is simple and safe to perform, but slow to see results; the latter is effective, but complicated to perform and has many complications. Laparoscopic partial gastrointestinal resection for obesity is a new surgical modality that has emerged in recent years. Our department was the first to carry out this operation in China in December 2006, and has treated more than ten cases of obese patients so far, with fast recovery, less pain and no complications. The effect of weight loss is obvious, with an average weight loss of 22 Kg in the six-month follow-up after the operation, and the accompanying diseases related to obesity: hypertension, diabetes, arthritis, sleep apnea syndrome, etc. have been controlled or alleviated to different degrees.
