How to prevent heatstroke

  A. What is heat stroke.
  1, Western medical understanding.
Heat stroke is a general term for the disruption of water and electrolyte metabolism and neurological impairment caused by the dysfunction of the body’s thermoregulatory center and the failure of sweat glands in hot weather, high humidity and windless environment. In July 2010, heat stroke was added to the national list of statutory occupational diseases. (Heat stroke can be divided into heat cramps, heat exhaustion and pyrexia.)
  2. Chinese medicine recognizes that
Heatstroke is a deficiency in the middle qi and suffer from heatstroke (i.e. people with a weak spleen and stomach feel the heat). Heat is the gas, when the summer should be; in the sky for the heat, in the ground for the fire, in the human heart; summer heat is ascending and dispersing, depleting the gas and hurting the fluid; summer injury, the first offense in the heart. (The treatment of cold is to warm and disperse; the treatment of heat stroke is to clear and cool. First waiting for the time of day, the second with the treatment.)
Second, what are the clinical manifestations of heat stroke.
  1, heat stroke aura.
Refers to the high temperature environment, such as headache, dizziness, irritability, thirst, sweating, limb weakness, general fatigue, panic palpitations, inattention, uncoordinated movements and other performance, regardless of whether the body temperature is normal should be considered aura of heatstroke.
  2.Mild heat stroke.
Refers to the appearance of flushing, profuse sweating, rapid pulse, burning skin and other manifestations in addition to the aggravation of the performance of heat stroke aura, and the increase of body temperature to 38.5℃ or more. Or appear wet and cold extremities, pale face, blood pressure drop, pulse rate increase and other manifestations.
  3. Severe heat stroke.
There are often paroxysmal muscle spasms, a sharp rise in body temperature or wet and cold skin, a drop in blood pressure, syncope or confusion, coma and other manifestations.
Third, the most vulnerable to heat stroke.
Workers who work long hours at high temperatures, overcrowded people, sleep-deprived people, hungry people, overworked people, obese people, heavy drinkers, patients with cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, the elderly and infirm, children and pregnant women, maternity and other people with poor heat resistance, especially susceptible to heat stroke.
Fourth, how to prevent heat stroke.
  1, clothing.
Try to use cotton, linen, silk fabrics when going out, should wear less chemical fiber clothing, avoid wearing too tight, impermeable clothing and pants in order to reveal the body, so as not to sweat a lot in time to dissipate heat, causing heatstroke.
  2, diet.
Summer can eat vegetables and fresh fruit with high water content, such as lettuce, loofah, winter melon, cucumber, tomatoes, peaches, watermelon, prunes, pears, etc., used to replenish the body’s lost water. In addition, drinking dairy products, fruit juice, etc. is also a better choice, both to hydrate, but also to meet the nutritional needs. Do not drink cold for the sake of the mouth cool and greedy.
  3, rest.
Long days and short nights in summer, the temperature is high, the body’s metabolism is strong, consumption increases, easy to feel fatigue. Maintain adequate sleep, the brain and body systems are relaxed, both for work and study, is also a measure to prevent heat stroke. The best time to go to bed is from 22:00 to 23:00, and the best time to get up is from 5:30 to 6:30. When sleeping, take care not to lie under the air vents of air conditioners and electric fans to avoid suffering from air conditioning disease and heat stroke.
  4. Travel.
Remember to prepare sun protection gear before going out in summer, it is best not to walk in the hot sun from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., because the sun is strongest during this time, the possibility of heat stroke is 10 times higher than usual! When you must go out, you must do a good job of protection, such as playing umbrellas, wearing sun hats, wearing sunglasses, and it is best to apply sunscreen if possible; have enough water and drinks. The elderly, pregnant women and patients with cardiovascular disease should reduce outdoor activities as much as possible. In addition, before traveling on ten drops of water, Huo Xiang Zheng Shui, wind oil essence and other anti-coldness medicine is very necessary, in case of emergency use.
  V. How to deal with heat stroke: 1.
1, a cup of warm water to the patient slowly drink, and help to a cool place with fresh air.
2.When the patient has heat syncope, use a teaspoon of table salt mixed with 600ml of water to drink slowly.
3.Massage the temples (wind oil is better).
4.If fainting, use finger nail to stimulate the man center point (the upper 1/3 of the middle of the nose and lips).
5, chest discomfort, untie the collar, plus press the Nei Guan point (two inches above the wrist line).
6, massage or scraping way to stimulate the Chung Chong point (the tip of the middle finger), Baihui point (the top of the head in the middle of the line of the two ear tips), Chung Quan point (the first 1/3 of the plantar heart), so that the patient as soon as possible to wake up. At the same time, use watermelon rind or wet towel to rub the patient’s body to accelerate the drop of body temperature.
(Note: In case of severe heatstroke, in addition to immediately transferring the heatstroke victim from the hot environment to a cool, ventilated place, it should also be quickly sent to the nearest hospital, while taking comprehensive measures to rescue and cure.)
