Are reflux pharyngitis and reflux gastroesophagitis the same disease?

Reflux gastro-oesophagitis mainly manifests as damage to the oesophageal mucosa, with heartburn, acid reflux and chest pain as the main symptoms. In the past, reflux pharyngitis was often considered to be an extra-oesophageal manifestation of reflux gastro-oesophagitis, but in recent years it is mostly considered to be two separate diseases, but often occurring or appearing in combination.
