Can diplopia be treated?

Diplopia is amenable to treatment. The first step is to find the cause for etiologic treatment, such as brain tumors, injuries, systemic diseases, and extraocular muscle problems. If the cause is not found or the etiology is not satisfactory, symptomatic treatment is available. Mild binocular diplopia can be corrected by wearing trigeminal lenses, BTA injections, or in severe cases, surgery may be required.
