There are many causes of diplopia, mostly due to ophthalmic diseases, central injuries and systemic diseases. Some diplopia is difficult to prevent, while others, such as those caused by acute common internal strabismus and systemic diseases, can be prevented to some extent by reducing the time spent in close proximity to the eyes and controlling systemic diseases. If symptoms of diplopia appear, promptly seek medical attention to find the cause, and treat the cause and symptoms.
