Is it a matter of time before you lose your sight from glaucoma?

Glaucoma is a type of disease in which the optic nerve is damaged, and if left untreated, the possibility of blindness is great. Glaucoma damage to the eye is divided into the following two main conditions.
First, acute closed-angle glaucoma, with a sharp increase in intraocular pressure as the typical symptom. The disease is most common in middle-aged and elderly people. Sudden onset of eye pain, eye swelling, headache, nausea and vomiting are common. This type of glaucoma can cause serious eye damage in a short period of time and can easily lead to blindness if not treated in time.
Second, chronic closed-angle glaucoma. This type of glaucoma is a progressive disease, some patients have no symptoms in the early stage of the disease, and the visual field gradually shrinks as the disease gradually worsens. Most of these patients can retain a certain degree of vision with timely intervention.
