Not all lower abdominal distension is due to inflammation.
Some lower abdominal distension may be caused by inflammation in the abdominal or pelvic cavity, such as ulcerative colitis, appendicitis, colonic diverticulosis and diverticulitis, pelvic inflammatory disease, cystitis, etc., which may cause patients to feel distension in the lower abdomen; however, non-inflammatory causes such as neoplastic diseases, internal organ damage after trauma, extra-abdominal hernia, pregnancy, etc., may also lead to lower abdominal distension and pain.
If the distension lasts for a long time or if the pain is severe, the cause can be clarified by a hospital visit, and it is not recommended that patients take antibiotic drugs directly.
