Is redness and swelling at the corners of the eyes contagious?

Not necessarily.
Local inflammation resulting in ocular disease may cause redness, swelling and pain in the corner of the eye, but not all infectious inflammatory diseases are contagious. Acute infectious conjunctivitis is generally contagious and can be spread by contact; ocular herpes zoster, caused by the varicella zoster virus, is also contagious.
