Is scalp folliculitis contagious?

Folliculitis of the scalp is mostly caused by bacterial infections and is usually not contagious. However, some folliculitis caused by fungal infections, such as those secondary to tinea capitis, is somewhat contagious, mainly through direct contact with the lesions or through sharing hairdressing products, combs, towels, etc.
