What are the causes of lower limb swelling during pregnancy?

Swelling of the lower extremities during pregnancy occurs mostly in the second trimester, mainly due to a decrease in plasma colloid osmotic pressure, sodium and water retention, and impaired venous and lymphatic return, and the swelling of the lower extremities decreases automatically at the end of pregnancy.
