Neuropathic pain can be divided into peripheral and central neuropathic pain. Common types of the former include trigeminal neuralgia, glossopharyngeal neuralgia, medically induced neuralgia, painful diabetic neuropathy, phantom limb pain, post-herpetic neuralgia, post-traumatic neuralgia, etc. The latter includes post-stroke pain, multiple sclerosis-related pain, Parkinson’s disease-related pain, post-traumatic spinal cord injury pain, etc.
