Facial hair growth in women may be a completely normal physiological second sign manifestation, or in some cases there is a genetic component. In most women, facial hair growth is due to high levels of androgens, which stimulate hair growth in the body. The cause of high androgen levels may be related to genetic factors or may be caused by polycystic ovary syndrome. The complex relationship between sex hormone levels and genotype/phenotype of race makes the areas where facial hair appears larger in women.
