If the exudate is clear mucus, the possibility of glandular labyrinthitis should be considered. In addition to swelling of the lips with clear fluid exudation, the lower lip may be turned out and small nodules may be felt on the lips.
If pus is oozing out, it may be necessary to consider diseases such as lip canker, syphilis lip chancre secondary infection, etc. Lip canker may also be accompanied by mucosal ectropion, and the center may appear purple-red, and may be accompanied by headache, chills, high fever, loss of appetite and other systemic symptoms. The swelling of the lips in syphilitic chancre can form a giant lip, accompanied by obvious enlargement of lymph nodes.
