What is rectal tenesmus?

Rectal tenesmus is a common clinical symptom of abnormal bowel movement. Patients mainly present with the urge to defecate but little defecation when using the toilet, accompanied by a feeling of incomplete defecation, and no feeling of relief in the abdomen after defecation. It may be caused by anorectal diseases and pelvic diseases.
