If a pregnant woman has unilateral eye swelling and pain, consider blepharitis, commonly known as “needle’s eye”. In mild cases, local heat or antibiotic ointment can be applied topically (under the guidance of an obstetrician/gynecologist), and attention should be paid to eye hygiene and the time spent using the eyes to avoid overexertion.
