What’s wrong with the sunken sides of the face with braces?

After wearing braces in orthodontic treatment, the patient’s bite force decreases, making the chewing function lower, which leads to the atrophy of the bite muscle of the cheek and the temporal muscle at the temple with the reduction of chewing activity, resulting in the sunken situation on both sides of the face. In addition, orthodontic treatment process such as tooth sensitivity discomfort and other symptoms make patients reluctant to eat solid food, mostly liquid, semi-liquid food, further loss of chewing muscle exercise, and may lead to insufficient nutrition, fat loss, further aggravate the situation of sunken cheeks on both sides.
