Chemical pollutants present in the environment can cause a dry cough. Inhalation of toxic, harmful or irritating gases, dust, industrial pollutants and fumes from the respiratory tract irritates the respiratory tract and induces a dry cough. Common ones are smoking, inhalation of sulphur dioxide, chlorine, ammonia, ozone, nitrogen oxides, phosgene, etc.
