Why high decibels can cause pain in the ear

Sound waves from the outside world are collected through the auricle and transmitted from the outer ear to the middle ear, causing the eardrum to vibrate, and then transmitted sequentially to the inner ear and central nerve to produce hearing. Long-term high decibel and high volume makes the eardrum vibrate violently, which may damage the eardrum or even perforate the eardrum, causing pain in the ear.
