Scleral congestion is one of the manifestations of scleral inflammation. Degeneration, necrosis, inflammatory cell infiltration and granulomatous proliferative reactions of scleral collagen fibers due to various etiologies cause vascular proliferation and dilation and congestion, resulting in inflammatory nodules or diffuse inflammatory lesions. That is, scleral congestion or small nodular hyperplasia visible to the naked eye.
