Anorexia in 8-month-old infants may be physiological, or it may be a symptomatic manifestation of certain diseases, such as zinc deficiency and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). It can be handled by general treatment and oral medication.
1. Physiological phenomenon: 8~9 months old infants can already accept semi-solid food such as minced meat, fruit puree, etc., such as excessive fluid intake, frequent meals (more than 7~8 times a day) and insufficient gastric emptying or difficulty in adapting to the environment, there may be anorexia of 8-month-old infants, attention should be paid to the addition of semi-solid food, not to feed the ordinary milk, arrange the frequency of meals for about 6 times a day is appropriate.
2. Zinc deficiency: zinc is one of the essential trace elements, insufficient intake or metabolic disorders caused by zinc deficiency can lead to loss of appetite, anorexia and growth retardation, which can cause anorexia in 8-month-old infants, the treatment means to eat zinc-rich animal foods, such as pureed meat, but also oral zinc gluconate, etc. for treatment.
3. Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD): dysfunction of the sphincter at the lower end of the esophagus and/or structural abnormalities can cause reflux of gastric contents, heartburn, pain in the throat, refusal to eat, etc. The right side of the semi-recumbent position can be taken to feed a thick diet, and gastrointestinal dynamics drugs can be given, such as domperidone suspension, etc., and acid inhibitors, such as simetidine, etc., and surgical treatment can be done if necessary.
8-month-old infants with symptoms of anorexia, after excluding physiological factors, should be timely consultation, so as not to delay the disease. The above drugs need to be used according to medical advice.
