What’s wrong with your chest when you’re on your period?

Great aunt refers to menstruation. Shortness of breath and chest tightness during menstruation are considered to be related to physiological phenomena and pathological factors such as menstrual syndrome, cardiovascular diseases and respiratory diseases.
1. Physiological phenomenon: During menstruation, due to changes in estrogen and progesterone levels in the body, women may experience chest tightness, shortness of breath and other clinical symptoms, which can be relieved on their own after menstruation is cleared.
2. Pathological phenomena:
(1) menstrual syndrome: if chest tightness, shortness of breath and other discomforts start before the onset of menstruation, and gradually get better as menstruation is cleaned up, then we should be alert to the occurrence of menstrual syndrome, which is mostly related to the abnormal ovarian function, hormone level disorders in the body, neurotransmitter abnormalities and other factors.
(2) Cardiovascular diseases: If a woman has a combination of myocardial insufficiency of blood supply, arrhythmia and other diseases, vaginal bleeding during menstruation may aggravate the cardiac disease, and then obvious chest tightness and shortness of breath will occur.
(3) Respiratory diseases: for patients with pneumonia, emphysema and other diseases, due to the decline in body resistance during menstruation, which may lead to dyspnea and chest tightness, reflexively causing panic and shortness of breath.
