How is the slant neck surgery done?

Sternocleidomastoid surgery is performed by severing the sternocleidomastoid muscle, either partially or completely. If the sternocleidomastoid contracture is more serious, sternocleidomastoid lengthening surgery and combined upper and lower sternocleidomastoid release plus shaping surgery are also required. If the patient has a more severe or uncooperative oblique neck deformity, postoperative cephalothoracic cast correction is required to maintain the cervical spine position. Surgical treatment is indicated for some patients, while non-surgical treatment can be used for early stage patients. The type of treatment used is determined primarily by the severity and age of the patient. Adult patients with deformities that have existed for many years will not only face more severe facial deformities after surgery, but their vision will not be able to adapt to the new postoperative position, so surgery is not recommended in most cases.
