Can cysts in the throat become cancerous?

Throat cysts themselves are usually not cancerous. Throat cysts include tonsil cysts, epiglottis cysts, submucosal cysts of the vocal cords and laryngeal ventricle cysts. If the cysts are enlarged, patients may have symptoms such as foreign body sensation in the throat and hoarseness. However, these cysts are benign lesions and usually do not become cancerous, so patients can observe them closely and follow up regularly. If the cyst is large enough to cause clinical symptoms, such as affecting eating and breathing, the patient needs to go to the hospital, and the size of the cyst can be clarified through electronic laryngoscopy, so that the cyst can be removed surgically. In addition, patients with laryngeal cysts should quit smoking and drinking and eat less spicy and irritating food to reduce the stimulation of laryngeal cysts while being treated. At the same time, they should also maintain a good lifestyle and ensure sufficient sleep to help the disease recover as soon as possible.
