The time for dizziness to disappear after otolithic resetting is highly variable among individuals. For milder otoliths, the symptoms can be significantly improved after the resetting is completed, while for patients with more severe symptoms, it may take about 2-3 days after multiple resetting for the vertigo symptoms to be significantly relieved and disappear. The preferred treatment for otoliths is manual repositioning. If the repositioning is successful and complete, most of the patients can have their vertigo symptoms relieved immediately. However, in some patients, it may take about half an hour for the vertigo symptoms to disappear after successful repositioning. In some cases, it may take several times of repositioning, and usually the dizziness can be gradually relieved after 2-3 times of repositioning for about 2-3 days. A few patients may have some degree of dizziness left behind, and need to combine with oral medication to relieve the symptoms, which may take 1-2 weeks to completely cure. Individualized rehabilitation therapy is available for patients whose repeated repositioning therapy is ineffective or who are unable to tolerate treatment. Patients with frequent episodes of otoliths in severe cases may also be treated with surgical hemi-canal filling.
