If the “concentric circles” sign of the intestinal canal disappears as indicated by ultrasound, the repositioning of the intussusception is successful. Intussusception can occur in both children and adults, usually due to uneven development of the intestinal canal in children and intestinal tumors in adults, so intussusception in adults requires surgery for relief and cure. In children, the intestinal canal itself is structurally normal, but the intussusception is caused by uneven development and can usually be repositioned with an air enema. If the original “concentric circles” sign disappears, it means that the air enema reset is successful, and the abdominal pain of the child will be relieved significantly.
