Most delays in children’s language learning are related to hearing

Most delays in learning to speak in children are related to hearing, and if hearing is not normal, it can lead to limited speech development in children. Therefore, it is important to know whether the child has normal hearing. At present, our country has started hearing screening for infants and young children, and hospitals at all levels have screening equipment, which can provide a preliminary understanding of children’s hearing. If the hearing screening does not pass, you can come to our otolaryngology department for hearing-related examinations, including otoacoustic emission, auditory brainstem evoked potentials and multi-frequency steady-state examination, which can determine the hearing of children. For children with hearing loss or impairment, early intervention can yield good results. Currently, the hearing impairment in all types of people is basically solved technically through cochlear implants and other auditory implant devices. Especially for congenitally deaf children aged 1-3 years old, cochlear implants can be used to obtain completely normal hearing and thus normal speech function. The key is early detection and early intervention. At present, our otolaryngology department has carried out dozens of cases of cochlear implantation, and the patients have obtained good hearing and speech functions.
