Can a melanocytic nevus on the scalp become malignant?

Melanocytic nevus refers to what we call a pigmented nevus. A pigmented nevus on the scalp is not necessarily malignant, but if it is found to have changes such as rapid development, there is a possibility of malignant transformation.
Nevus pigmentosus is a benign swelling formed by melanocytes gathering in nests, and most patients do not develop malignant changes. The cause of the disease may be related to hereditary factors, and nevus pigmentosus may also be triggered by ultraviolet radiation and trauma. Patients may have single or multiple nevi in any part of the body.
It should be noted that if the size of the nevus becomes bigger rapidly, or the shape is asymmetric, the border is not clear, or it is accompanied by pain, itching, oozing, etc., it is necessary to be alert to the possibility of malignant transformation, and need to go to the hospital for treatment in a timely manner.
For patients with melanocytic nevi on the scalp, generally do not need to be too nervous. If it develops rapidly in a short period of time, it should be examined by a doctor.
