Large moles generally refer to pigmented moles that are large in diameter and are usually safer to remove with surgery and pathologic examination. If the diameter of a pigmented mole exceeds 0.5 centimeters, physical methods such as medication or laser are generally not recommended for removal.
Pigmented nevus, if the diameter is more than 0.5 cm, has a higher chance of malignant transformation than small nevi, so it is not recommended to remove it by drugs or physical methods such as laser or electrocautery, which cannot take specimens and do pathological examination to clarify whether there is malignant transformation. In addition, it will also stimulate the already malignant pigmented nevus and accelerate the deterioration of the condition.
For large diameter nevus, it is recommended to remove the nevus completely by surgery and do pathological examination, if the pathological examination result is benign, no further treatment is needed; if the pathological examination result is malignant, further treatment is needed.
For large moles, it is recommended to go to the dermatology department of the hospital and follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment.
