Is Acute Kidney Failure Serious?

Some causes of acute renal failure are more severe and even require renal replacement therapy. Patients with acute kidney injury due to renal parenchymal disease, for example, have a higher mortality rate when combined with multi-organ failure.
In contrast, most patients with acute kidney injury due to pre-renal and post-renal etiologies can recover well from kidney function if diagnosed early and treated promptly.
