Progesterone, also known as progesterone, is a progestogen. It is a natural progesterone secreted by the corpus luteum of the ovary and has a significant morphological effect on the estrogen-excited endometrium in the body, which is necessary for the maintenance of pregnancy. Its pharmacological effects are mainly as follows: 1. In the late menstrual cycle, it causes the growth of glands in the mucous membrane of the uterus, engorgement of the uterus, and thickening of the endometrium in preparation for the implantation of fertilized eggs. After implantation of the fertilized egg, the placenta is produced, and the excitability of the pregnant uterus is reduced to inhibit its activity, so that the fetus can grow safely; 2. It is used clinically for pre-labour, abortion, and other conditions. It is used clinically for the reactive diagnosis of pre-eclampsia, habitual abortion, amenorrhea or the cause of amenorrhea. Dizziness, headache, nausea, depression, breast pain and other reactions may occur after use. Long-term application may cause endometrial atrophy, decreased menstrual flow, and predispose to vaginal mycobacterial infections. It should not be taken orally by patients with liver disease.
