It is impossible to generalize how long it takes to recover from epididymitis, as mild cases usually heal in about 1 week, while severe cases may take 2-3 weeks to recover. Epiglottitis is usually caused by a viral or bacterial infection and can be respiratory and life-threatening in severe cases due to its critical anatomical and physiological location. Acute epiglottitis mainly presents with severe pain in the throat, difficulty swallowing, slurred pronunciation, and even systemic symptoms such as fever and chills. Epiglottitis caused by mild infection in the pharynx can usually be cured in about 1 week after active treatment. For severe bacterial infections, especially in patients with diabetes, tuberculosis or low immunity, the course of treatment may be extended to more than 2 weeks. Treatment of this disease requires systemic application of broad-spectrum antibiotics and glucocorticoids, as well as treatment of the primary disease, keeping the airway open, and tracheotomy or cricothyroid puncture if necessary. Acute epiglottitis is an ENT emergency that can easily cause asphyxia or even death, and patients should be hospitalized promptly.
