How do I know I am infected?

The clinical symptoms of infection are not specific and can present with the corresponding manifestations of multiple sites of infection, making it difficult to determine on your own. If you have symptoms of systemic infection such as fever, chills, localised infection such as redness, swelling and pain in wounds, or other areas such as coughing or abdominal pain, you should seek medical attention promptly and identify the pathogen by collecting a specimen from the infected area for culture and smear examination, or by routine blood tests. Once the infection has been diagnosed, it needs to be treated according to the appropriate protocol.
