How old can a baby with a heart murmur heal itself?

The self-healing time of a baby’s heart murmur needs to be determined by a combination of factors such as the type of murmur and the presence or absence of organic heart disease. There are two different types of heart murmurs. Physiological murmurs, also known as functional murmurs, usually appear after birth and are most common between the ages of 3 and 7. They usually do not have uncomfortable symptoms such as panic or shortness of breath and do not interfere with daily activities, and may last a lifetime. If the murmur is pathological, also known as organic murmur, it indicates that the baby may have congenital heart disease, endocarditis and other diseases, which may be accompanied by reduced activity tolerance, developmental delay and other discomforts, it is recommended to conduct electrocardiogram, cardiac ultrasound and other tests to clarify the diagnosis and need active treatment, and it is not recommended to wait for its self-cure. Parents should be cautious when their baby has a heart murmur. It is recommended to go to the pediatric department of the hospital to check the type of murmur in time and deal with it according to the condition, and pay attention to balanced nutrition in daily life to ensure the nutrition and energy intake required for the normal development of the baby.
