Chinese herbal medicine has certain efficacy in treating tinnitus with few adverse effects. Based on the principle of identifying and treating the symptoms, there are 7 methods: 1) De-superficialization method: It is used for wind-heat symptoms, mostly seen in inflammation of the eustachian tube, otitis media, and vestibular neuritis. Yin Qiao San and San Wu Tang are commonly used. Cicada, Chrysanthemum, Pueraria Mirifica, Tribulus terrestris, Radix Paeoniae, Salvia, Gardenia, can disperse wind-heat in the liver meridian and calm tinnitus in the ear. 2. Liver clearing method: for tinnitus and deafness caused by liver fire. Commonly used in gentian and liver diarrhea soup, tianma and hook vine drink, cang er zi san, etc. 3. Kidney tonifying method: Used for tinnitus due to kidney deficiency, often used in Liu Wei Di Huang Wan, Zuo Gui Wan, Right Gui Wan, etc. 4.Tonicity of qi and blood method: For tinnitus caused by the sinking of middle qi and the failure of clear yang to rise, Yi Qi Smart Tang, Zhong Zhong Yi Qi Tang, Si Wu Tang, etc. are used. 5.Tonic for the heart and kidney method: for treating deficiency of heart qi and deafness without hearing, use Tianwang Tonic Heart Dan, etc. 6.Chemical stasis method: for treating sudden tinnitus and deafness, use Tao Hong Si Wu Tang. 7.Phlegm-dampness treatment: for phlegm-fire upheaval. It is commonly used in Er Chen Tang, San Zi Yang Yin Tang, etc. Acupuncture treatment can apply the doctrine of meridians, follow the meridians to take the empty space, and close the acupuncture points of the hearing palace and cataract with 1% nufcaine, which is effective for tinnitus. Other acupuncture points are Kidney Yu, Tai Xi, Shen Men, Tai Chong, Hearing Palace, and Ear Gate. The moxibustion method can be chosen from Cangzhi moxibustion. At the Yongquan point, use 30 grams of magnet, 3 grams of vermilion, 15 grams of Cornus officinalis and vinegar to make a cake, rub the heart of the foot for 5-10 minutes, and apply it to both feet once a night for 7 days.
