How and when to store breastmilk

Breastmilk is recommended to be stored in special milk storage bags, which can be stored at room temperature, refrigerated environment or frozen environment, depending on the ambient temperature and storage container, with individual differences. When storing breastmilk, you can use special milk storage bags or thoroughly cleaned bottles to store milk. However, it is important to clean and sterilize all tools before storing breastmilk. It is recommended to boil breastmilk in boiling water for more than 5 minutes to effectively sterilize it. If you need to store it in a frozen environment, it is recommended to use plastic products that are well sealed for freezing. Breastmilk can be stored at room temperature for 3-4 hours, in a refrigerated environment for 1-2 days, and in a sub-zero environment for several months. Secondly, sealed storage containers can be stored for a relatively longer period of time than regular milk bottles. However, it is not recommended to store for too long to avoid spoilage in order to ensure the quality of breast milk. In addition, when storing breast milk, pay attention to ensure the cleanliness and hygiene of all contacts, such as mother’s nipples, hands, breast pump, etc., to avoid contaminating the milk.
