Who is at risk of developing asymptomatic bacteriuria?

People at risk for asymptomatic bacteriuria include the elderly, women during pregnancy, immunocompromised people such as those taking long-term immunosuppressants, people with diabetes, women who are more sexually active and take oral contraceptives for long periods of time, patients with abnormal urinary structures due to kidney transplants or abnormal kidney development, and patients with indwelling catheters, cystoscopy or ureteroscopy.
