Neonatal severe infection combined with DIC

The baby was a 3-day-old newborn, the first child of the first birth, delivered by cesarean section at 37 weeks of gestation on September 01, 2008 at 11:45 pm in our obstetrics and gynecology department. Her mother had a history of fever up to 38.5 degrees 2 days before delivery, with pseudo contractions, and was diagnosed with appendicitis and pancreatitis, so the baby was delivered by cesarean section. The baby was started half an hour after birth and was able to eat milk without vomiting and spilling. On the third day after birth, the baby had fever, temperature fluctuated between 37.5 and 38 degrees, poor mental response, routine blood check: leukocytes 11.9×109/L, neutrophils 80.8%, CRP3mg/L, blood biochemistry: ALT:168IU/L, AST1502IU/L, bone aminotransferase 337iu/l, lactate dehydrogenase 2465U/L CKMB63U/L,CRP29.9mg/L. Fructose was given to nourish the myocardium, Mepin for anti-infection treatment, and energy combination for symptomatic support treatment. On the second day after admission, the child’s blood was drawn again for rechecking, and suddenly the puncture site was bleeding more than once, while scattered bleeding spots appeared around the body. The initial diagnosis was severe neonatal infection (sepsis) combined with DIC.
