How long does it take for an abscess to clear up on its own?

Abscesses, also known as boils and boils, usually require no special treatment and can usually clear up on their own in 1-2 weeks, some may take up to 3-4 weeks. However, if the symptoms are more severe, they still need to be treated aggressively. Abscesses are usually caused by microbial infections, commonly such as folliculitis caused by Staphylococcus aureus infection, and recovery is relatively quick. For healthy people, most pustules will clear up on their own, but some may worsen, such as the appearance of spread of infection leading to canker sores (infection of multiple hair follicles), cellulitis, and dermatitis. Therefore, for pustules, early treatment, such as topical mupirocin ointment, is recommended; if they do not improve in 1-2 weeks, or even worsen, prompt consultation at a dermatology clinic is recommended. It should be noted that the skin must not be squeezed or picked by itself after the appearance of pustules; for smaller pustules, hot compresses can be used daily for relief. In addition, a light and easy-to-digest diet, appropriate exercise to improve immunity, and attention to keep the local skin clean can also help promote recovery.
