How long does it take for a boil on the buttocks to heal on its own?

A fire boil on the buttocks can take at least 20-30 days to heal on its own without medication. Fire boils on the buttocks are mainly an infectious disease caused by the infection of bacteria inside the hair follicles of the skin. The local skin surface will show red papule-like changes, with a pus head visible in the middle, surrounded by obvious redness, swelling, heat and pain, and accompanied by significant pain when touched by hand. If the condition is not treated, it will gradually heal itself based on its own immunity and skin immunometabolic function, which usually requires a slow process, and will leave a significant local pigmentation that can last for a long time after healing. It is usually recommended to apply topical ichthyolite ointment, and in case of fluctuating sensation, you can cut and drain the pus, and then apply antibiotic ointment until it heals. It is important to note that you should not break the fire boil with your hands until it has completely healed on its own to avoid the formation of a more pronounced bacterial infection that can affect the self-healing time.
