Questions about “cervical cysts”

Every time we visit our patients, we are asked about the treatment of cervical cysts. Some patients also have a heavy mental burden because of cervical cysts. We hope you can learn more about cervical cysts through this article and treat them correctly. The cervical cysts are also called cervical nasal cysts, cervical nasal cysts (may be called “nasal cysts”), like cervical erosion and cervical polyps, is a manifestation of chronic cervicitis. The reason for the formation of cervical cysts is similar to the acne on the face, which is caused by the new squamous epithelium covering the mouth of the cervical glandular ducts or extending into the glandular ducts during the healing process of cervical erosion, blocking the mouth of the glandular ducts; the proliferation of connective tissue around the glandular ducts or scar formation compressing the glandular ducts, narrowing or even blocking the glandular ducts, blocking the drainage of glandular secretions, and stagnating the formation of the cysts. The cyst is called cervical nuchal cyst. On examination, several greenish-white vesicles of different sizes (not purple) containing mucus can be seen protruding from the surface of the cervix, varying in size from small ones as large as 1.0 cm in diameter to larger ones that can grow even larger, protruding from the surface of the cervix and even reaching the vaginal opening, with a tip connecting the root to the cervix. Patients with cervical cysts are often combined with cervical hypertrophy. For small scattered cervical glandular cysts, no treatment is usually needed, as long as annual checkups are performed; for dense smaller nasal cysts or larger cysts, physical treatments such as laser and microwave can be considered; for larger ones protruding from the surface of the cervix, electric knife excision can be considered. For patients with “cervical cysts” and “cervical erosion”, regular cervical cancer screening is very necessary.
