Semen usually liquefies completely within 30 minutes. Complete liquefaction means that the semen becomes very homogeneous. The World Health Organization states that semen becomes more homogeneous within 60 minutes, indicating normal liquefaction. Seeing chunks or snot-like or granular semen on its own is actually a normal semen appearance. In addition, semen is pale yellow or milky white in color. Most milky white semen and pale yellow semen are normal colors. Generally speaking, if semen is excreted more often, it will be milky white. If semen is not discharged for a long time, it will slowly turn yellow, and the longer the semen is discharged, the more yellow it will be. If the semen is more yellow or if the semen turns red, it is an abnormal condition. Therefore, abnormal semen properties and appearance require prompt medical attention. If the semen is only slightly yellow or if the semen is not particularly homogeneous, it is mostly normal.
