Cramps in the second and third toes together may be related to the following causes: 1. Overworking of the muscles on the front side of the calf and in the deep part of the leg. This is often seen in patients who do long distance walking or repeated toe hooks, which can lead to muscle fatigue here, followed by a transient muscle spasm when the patient is at rest. This muscle spasm can lead to cramps in the second and third toes through the pulling of the tendons.2. Peripheral nerve lesions, such as the onset of a lumbar disc herniation, may produce radioactive pain somewhere in the lower limbs. If the painful stimulus is too intense, the above symptoms may also occur. 3, may be caused by special trauma, such as an electric shock injury to the calf area, or a direct impact to the front and outside of the calf, then this symptom may also remain afterwards.
