Let’s start with desensitization. Desensitization is a method used to treat type I hypersensitivity reactions caused by specific allergens, i.e., by injecting a small amount of allergen to induce the release of only a small amount of active mediators from the sensitized cells, without causing significant clinical symptoms. Multiple injections over a short period of time can gradually deplete the active mediators in the sensitized cells, thus eliminating the sensitized state of the body. There are many clinical implications of desensitization treatment, including: 1) reduction or even disappearance of allergic symptoms; 2) reduction of drug dosage; 3) possible long-term effectiveness after completion of treatment; 4) prevention of aggravation of disease development; 5) prevention of new allergies; 6) normalization of the immune system.
