What are the dangers of abortion?

Immediate complications: bleeding, infection, uterine perforation, organ damage, incomplete abortion, amniotic fluid embolism, abortion syndrome Long-term complications: pelvic inflammatory disease, endometriosis, cervical-uterine adhesions, menstrual disorders, secondary infertility Impact on future pregnancy outcomes: ectopic pregnancy, increased rate of spontaneous abortion, increased rate of preterm birth, increased rate of perinatal mortality, increased rate of placental abnormalities, increased rate of antepartum and postpartum hemorrhage, and increased psychological trauma for women who have had an abortion. The psychological trauma should not be ignored. The greater the number of abortions, the greater the likelihood of complications. Abortion is a remedy of last resort after contraceptive failure and should never be used as a means of birth control.
