This formula is from the “bureau formula”, said to treat “white turbid urine, night night walk, leaking astringent pain, red as blood, men five gonorrhea, gas does not converge, Yang floating in the outside, five heart annoying heat. The “Renzai Direct Instruction Formula” contains Qingxin Lianzi Drink, which “treats upper Shengxia, lower deficiency, heart fire inflammation, bitter mouth and throat dryness, annoying thirst and slight heat, red and astringent urine, or want to become gonorrhea. The composition is: Scutellaria baicalensis, Che Qian Zi, Mai Men Dong (remove the heart), ground bark, licorice (sizzling) each half two, Astragalus membranaceus (honey sizzling), stone lotus seed (remove the heart), white poria, ginseng (each 7.5 yuan) on the taste of chewing. Each serving of water one bell, decoction. If fever is present, add Chai Hu and Peppermint. The world’s medical doctor to get effect of the formula – thirst – general treatment “said this formula can cure:” the treatment of heat in the heart, often irritable, so thinking about the labor of mind, worry and depression, is the cause of the urine white cloudy, or sand film, night dreams go drainage, leaking astringent pain, the stool red as blood. Or because of excessive alcohol, the upper Shengxia deficiency, the heart fire inflammation, lung gold by the gram, dry mouth and tongue, gradually become thirsty, sleep and sleep restlessness, limbs tiredness. Men’s five gonorrhea, women bring down red and white. After the disease, the Qi does not converge, Yang floats outside, and the five hearts are hot and bothered. The medicine is warm and calm, not cold and not hot. It is often taken to clear the mind and nourish the spirit, secret essence and replenish the deficiency, nourish the intestines and stomach, and regulate the blood.” The above is also found in “Puji Fang – The Gate of Thirst”.
There is a large body of literature on the application of Qingxin Lianzi Drink in the Japanese Han Dynasty [1.2].
Based on the drug combination of Qingxinrenzi Drink, it is presumed that the evidence of Qingxinrenzi Drink is the deficiency of qi and blood caused by exertion and illness; the internal growth of dampness and heat caused by excessive drinking; and the psychoneurotic symptoms caused by excessive thinking and depression. From this, we can see that the basic symptoms of the disease are deficiency of heart yin, deficiency of fire on inflammation, deficiency of kidney qi, and internal growth of damp-heat, with clinical symptoms of heart and kidney disorders.
Miura et al. analyzed 16 patients who took Qingxin Lianzi Drink effectively. Most of the effective cases were mainly insomnia and had multi-system symptoms such as urinary and digestive symptoms. Self-perceived symptoms: insomnia, frequent urination, preference for cold drinks and susceptibility to colds, dry mouth and indigestion, and easy sweating. The triggering aggravating factors are mental stimulation, overwork, cold stimulation, etc. Tongue texture: dark red or mildly red tongue, dry and cracked tongue. Tongue coating: less moss and map tongue, only 1 case of greasy moss, and more white moss and less yellow moss. For elderly people who gradually become deficient in essence and irritable after the age of 60 to 70, Qingxin Lianzi Drink is a good agent to benefit Qi and remove irritation. Although antidepressants and anti-anxiety drugs are effective, the older such drugs are, the stronger the side effects.
The unique method of taking Qingxinlianzi drink should not be overlooked. When there are fever symptoms, decoct it, remove the dregs, put it in water to cool, and take it cold on an empty stomach; when fever symptoms are not obvious, take it warm.
The deficiency evidence caused by mental tension before and after surgery in the field of surgery is usually more often used with Qingxin Lianzi Drink. Especially when using a catheter, it is easy to cause various symptoms of the urethra and is mostly accompanied by general lethargy, loss of appetite and insomnia. These are the indications of Qingxinlianzi drink.
There are also many applications in obstetrics and gynecology. Murata has used this formula to treat six cases of postoperative urinary frequency, nocturia, diabetes mellitus with dizziness, urinary incontinence, chronic cystitis and hypochondriasis after breast cancer, and all achieved good results. According to Sang-mi, Qingxinlianzi Drink is effective for bladder symptoms caused by mental factors as the underlying etiology, but it is not as effective for organic cystitis as Gentian Diarrhea Liver Soup and Pigling Soup, that is, the presence or absence of heart evidence is the main indication to judge whether Qingxinlianzi Drink can be applied. Those with offensive odor under the belt, which belongs to damp-heat infusion, should be treated with Qingxinlianzi Drink.
In urological applications: If the patient is over 40 years old, with normal urinalysis but frequent urination with mild urinary abnormalities, and with self-perceived symptoms of gastrointestinal weakness, Qingxin Lianzi Drink should be tried first. Qingxinlianzi Drink is one of the very effective formulas for the treatment of recurrent cystitis and urinary frequency.
Application in dermatology: Qingxinlianzi Drink is used in dermatology for the following conditions: (1) allergic dermatitis and atopic dermatitis with recurrent cystitis in weak constitution; (2) chronic dermatitis with abnormal urination and anxiety neurosis; (3) diabetic skin pruritus; (4) pruritus of the pubic area caused by banding, etc. For those who are prone to infections, Qingxinlianzi Drink combined with Tonifying Zhong Yiqi Tang; for those with weak gastrointestinal function, Qingxinlianzi Drink combined with Six Junzi Tang; for those with spasmodic pain, Paeoniae and Licorice Tang; for those with abdominal fullness and abdominal constriction, Da Jianzhong Tang; for those with obvious stomatitis pain, Licorice Tang; for those with deficiency-type nephrotic syndrome who want to enhance diuretic effect, Wu Ling San; for those with obvious spleen and stomach weakness, Xiao Jianzhong Tang. For obvious weakness of the spleen and stomach, Xiao Jian Zhong Tang is used.
Domestic scholars [3] treated non-infectious urethral syndrome (also known as aseptic dysuria-dysuria syndrome) with Qingxinlianzi drink, which refers to urethral syndrome caused by microorganisms such as bacteria (including Mycobacterium tuberculosis), fungi, and chlamydia that have been clinically excluded exactly. It is a common disease, mostly misdiagnosed as urinary tract infection, and long-term antibiotics are not only ineffective, but cause adverse reactions. Chinese medicine treatment has unique advantages. The disease is prolonged for a long time, more serious organic changes occur, causing chronic kidney Meng nephritis and even uremic syndrome, the pathological basis for the interstitial inflammation and fibrosis of the kidney, to clear the heart lotus seed drink with satisfactory results. The effectiveness rate reached 93.6%;. The occurrence of this disease mostly has obvious psychological factors. Patients report that the symptoms of frequent urination can be mostly reduced after shifting their attention, and the symptoms can be relieved after sleep. Western medicine treatment often gives sedatives and drugs to regulate the plant nerve function, which can relieve the symptoms, but the efficacy is not good [4.5]. This disease belongs to the category of “labor gonorrhea” in traditional Chinese medicine, which is characterized by redness and astringency of urine, difficulty in finishing the remaining drains, intolerance to exertion, and persistence, and is aggravated by external sensation, overexertion, and emotional stimulation.
Most of the patients with labor gonorrhea have Yang deficiency at the beginning, and from Yang deficiency to Yin deficiency, “Yang damage and Yin’, resulting in both Qi and Yin injury. The symptoms are: weakness and tiredness, lumbar pain and discomfort, irritable heat, dry mouth and tongue, red tongue with white coating, urgent urination, frequent urination, pain in the urethra, astringent urination, mild swelling or slight swelling of the eyelids, and sunken or slippery pulse. Dampness and heat are accumulated in the lower jiao, and over time, they deplete qi and yin. The drink is based on the use of Radix et Rhizoma Ginseng and Radix Astragali to benefit the Qi, Che Qian Zi, Qu Mai, Di Bark and Mai Dong to nourish the Yin; the stone lotus seeds to transport the heart and kidneys; Scutellaria Baicalensis to clear the heat; Poria and Che Qian Zi to guide the damp heat from the stool; the combination is strict and appropriate, for the treatment of Qi and Yin deficiency damp heat retention, the symptoms and the root cause of the remedy.
In addition, it should be emphasized that the disease is most common in women, the cause of its pathogenesis may be related to infection, trauma, injury during sexual intercourse, local stimulation, especially after menopause, estrogen levels decline, kidney function decreases, the bladder trabeculae lead to increased residual urine, urinary leachate aggravated; urethral epithelium atrophy, decreased defense function, more conducive to the invasion of pathogenic bacteria; urinary tissues around the obvious relaxation, resulting in the bladder mouth closure The symptoms of urinary frequency and residual urinary drainage appear or are aggravated by the existing symptoms [7.8]. This process is exactly in line with the Suwen Shanggu Tianzhen: “A woman is depleted in seven or seven days, the Ren vein is deficient, the Tai Chong vein is weak, and the Earth channel is not accessible, so her form is bad and she is childless.” The lowering of estrogen level leads to a series of symptoms, which are mostly identified as Qi and Yin deficiency in Chinese medicine. Benefiting Qi and nourishing Yin can effectively increase the estrogen level and improve the various symptoms of women after menopause, especially for enhancing the body’s ability to resist diseases, improving the quality of life and delaying aging.
According to Shi, this formula is a combination of warming, clearing, tonifying and beneficial, and is worthy of our consideration. This formula is often used to treat chronic urinary tract infections in elderly women. In elderly women, due to the decrease in estrogen level, the original secretion of the external tract is reduced and the self-purification function is insufficient, causing infections of the lower urinary tract and vagina. Recurrent burning sensation in the perineum, or even inability to sit, is common, along with irritating symptoms such as urinary frequency, urinary urgency, and painful urination, which are more prolonged when combined with diabetes. Infections can aggravate the condition of diabetes and cause blood sugar to rise, which is difficult to control. Western medicine long-term application of antibiotics, can not be eradicated, the application of Qingxin Lianzi drink plus reduction, clearing heat and tonifying Qi, and nourishing Yin and water, can achieve long-term and stable results. The author followed Mr. Shi and observed dozens of patients with chronic urethral syndrome treated with Qingxinlianzi drink, which confirmed the efficacy of this formula. Try a case.
