Patients with severe pulmonary hypertension, defined as a pressure in the pulmonary artery greater than 70 mmHg, may not have a life expectancy greater than five years if they are not treated with active medication, such as oral bosentan tablets or oral sildenafil, to reduce pulmonary artery pressure, but are left to their own devices. That is, the life expectancy of patients with severe pulmonary hypertension is still higher than the mortality rate of malignant tumors compared to malignant tumors. However, with active medication, such as long-term oral medication to reduce the pressure in the pulmonary artery, or active oxygenation to improve myocardial ischemia and pulmonary ischemia, life expectancy should be around 10-15 years without any problem. Therefore, the most critical thing for patients with severe pulmonary hypertension is to adhere to medication treatment and not to stop it, which is the most crucial to prolong life.
