Indications for internal and external approach to remove eye bags

The internal approach to remove eye bags makes an incision in the conjunctival surface of the lower eyelid to remove excess fat. The biggest advantage of this method is that there is no skin incision scar and the method is simple. This method is generally suitable for young people under 35 years old who only have fat protruding behind the orbital diaphragm but the lower eyelid skin and orbicularis muscle are not relaxed. The external approach to remove eye bags is to make a skin incision 2 mm outside the root of the eyelashes on the lower eyelid and remove part of the orbicularis oculi muscle and the retro-orbital fat. This method is suitable for middle-aged and older patients, especially those with significant skin laxity, and has the disadvantage that it may leave an incision scar.
