How to get itchy hands with Huai Shan

If itching occurs on the hands after touching Huai Shan, it may be due to an irritating reaction or allergy to the mucus of Huai Shan on the hands and the formation of contact dermatitis. Patients can first wash their hands with light salt water and avoid washing with alkaline detergents such as soap, laundry detergent and dishwashing liquid. Mild itching may be relieved by itself after 5-10 minutes, so be careful to avoid direct skin contact with Chinese yam again. If the above operation can not be relieved by itself, patients can first cold compress, and then follow the doctor’s instructions for appropriate external ointment for anti-itch treatment, including external application of hydrocortisone butyrate cream or mometasone furoate cream. In addition, some patients with more pronounced pruritus need to follow the doctor’s prescription with oral antihistamine for anti-allergy treatment, including loratadine, levocetirizine hydrochloride or benzosuberastine tablets. And for severe itching sensation can also be combined with the first generation of antihistamines oral treatment, including ketotifen or cyproheptadine, etc. Usually the surface of Huai Shan bark has a layer of sticky material, of which Huai Shan bark contains saponin and Huai Shan mucus contains plant alkali, which is irritating to human skin and can be itchy after contact. Therefore, patients can take appropriate measures before touching Huai Shan again, such as wearing gloves in advance, and thus Huai Shan will not directly contact the skin, in order to reduce the possibility of itching.
