Tummy time is a physiological phenomenon in infants and young children, mainly due to the small amount of food residues, which usually appears 1-2 months after birth and can last until 4-6 months. After birth, the gastrointestinal system is not perfect, and the digestion and absorption of food are weak, while the gastrointestinal function gradually increases around 1 month, and the amount of food residue is small at this time. If the infant is in a good state of mind, has a steady weight gain, eats milk normally, and has less food residue due to good digestion and high utilization of breast milk, and has less colonic motility, the number of bowel movements may be reduced, so parents need not worry too much. Parents are advised to give their infants warm water, massage their abdomen clockwise, and develop the habit of regular bowel movements to form a bowel reflex.
