What are the different types of delivery?

Labor is the process of delivery of the fetus from the mother’s body and can be carried out either by natural vaginal delivery or by cesarean delivery. If the fetus is developing normally, the pregnant woman is in good condition and her pelvis is in good condition, she can have a natural vaginal delivery, but if the pregnant woman or the fetus has any physical abnormality, a cesarean delivery is required. Natural childbirth is the process of delivery of the fetus and its appendages from the beginning of labor to its total delivery from the mother’s body at 37-42 weeks of gestation. Vaginal delivery is a natural and physiological way to deliver a baby, which allows the mother to recover quickly after delivery and the newborn to adapt to the outside world. The natural birth of a fetus through the birth canal naturally expels the amniotic fluid that accumulates in the interstitial space of the lungs, which prevents the development of wet lung disease and improves the coordination of the fetus’ body movements later in life. Natural delivery is also good for the discharge of the dew and the recovery of the uterus after delivery, and has less impact on future fertility. However, natural childbirth can damage the vagina, and in case of difficult labor, a cesarean section is necessary. If normal delivery is not possible, a cesarean section, which is an operation to remove the fetus by incising the uterus through the abdomen, can be chosen. Cesarean section is more damaging to the mother, and the recovery is slower after delivery. It may also cause sequelae of the operation, such as postpartum bleeding, weak contraction of the uterus after delivery and infection caused by improper care, so attention should be paid to strengthening postpartum care.
